4Cell Structure OrganellesMedium1 mark
A cell was put in a dish with radioactively labelled nucleotides. These nucleotides entered the cell by facilitated diffusion.
Figure 4, a secretory-type cell drawn in outline: a broken ring of membrane studded with small dots (ribosomes) curves around a central circular space; a leader labelled 1 points to part of the studded ring, and a leader labelled 2 points into the circular space it encloses. An oval organelle with internal folded lines sits to the right of the ring and is labelled 3; a similar, unlabelled oval organelle sits in the top-left corner of the cell. Below the ring, a stack of curved membranes surrounded by small circles is labelled 4. The base of the cell is fringed with finger-like projections, one of which releases stippled material.
In which cell structures did the radioactivity first become concentrated?
